I would like to share subscriptions with my wife and grandson. I have them on family sharing, but how do they retrieve the subscription information?

That’s a question for the NY Times, but, as a start go to https://myaccount.nytimes.com/seg/ using your computer, log in and see if you have an option to invite up to 2 people to share your subscription. This is a feature of some subscription plans.
