Ever since the new update, I can't add contacts to my Contacts

Ever since the new update, whenever I try to add a contact, I type a few characters in the Add Contact window, then the window disappears. I get no error messages.

I really don't like Big Sur.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

Test to see if the same problem happens in Safe Mode. FWIW I have no problem adding contacts or otherwise using Contacts in Big Sur.
