Notes app

I have been taking notes for school on my iPad with my new apple pen, when I activated my iCloud account for my notes all my previous school work had been deleted. Is there anyway to retrieve this ?

Notes, iCloud I deleted all notes data from my iPad and it deleted all my notes data on my phone as well. If it’s possible I would like to have my notes back since the information there was really valuable. I need my notes on my phone not as much as my iPad. Please put them back into the app.
