unable to block unwanted callers (child pornographers) on Facetime

All the advice about blocking callers refers to numbers in the recipient's Contact list, but THERE IS NO INFORMATION about blocking random (child) pornographers!

It appears that Apple do not allow you to block such callers. Why?

Also, the Facetime call with lots of underage callers DOES NOT TERMINATE. The *only* thing Facetime allows is TO JOIN THE CONVERSATION! Why?

"If I had that problem I would shut down the account and leave Facebook. "

I do not understand what 'shut down the account' means? To which account are you referring? Not sure 'leave Facebook' is relevant, as this was an unwanted Facetime call. I immediately 'ended' the call, but Facetime shows it as still 'live'.

What I have done is switch off Facetime on both my iPhone and iMac.

I am grateful that you agree it is a problem with Facetime. What on earth are Apple thinking off - making it impossible to block unwanted numbers which are NOT already on a recipient's contacts list?

Excellent:-) That worked on my iPhone, so thank you very much. It is something of a relief:-)

I actually received the call(s) on my iMac, and everything I tried there - following the online 'Help' advice - failed for the reason given. I see, now, that Facetime behaves slightly differently depending upon which platform it is on:-}

I might add this was the first time I had ever used Facetime, so I was at a serious disadvantage when unexpectedly faced with an incoming call from what immediately appeared to be underage girls clearly behaving in a highly dangerous and unambiguous way.

I do not yet know if mobile numbers can be spoofed, but I will let the Police know (by email... I am still supposed to be shielding).

This is a new 'scam', or whatever, to me... I was totally unprepared:-(

Thanks again for your help:-)
