My AirPods work fine, I can listen through them with no problem. The problem is whenever I am on the phone or recording a voice memo people cant understand what I am saying and I need to take my AirPods off. People say I sound very muffled and incomprehensible and they hear a loud static, I heard it myself when listening to a voice memo I recorded. How can I fix this?

Does the same issue happen if you pair the AirPods to a different device? To further isolate the issue, try adjusting which AirPod is set as the microphone in Settings > Bluetooth > Tap the (i) button next to the AirPods (in iOS). The Microphone option here defaults to Automatic, but try setting it to the left AirPod, and see if that helps. If not, try setting it to the right AirPod, and try again.

the static is still there even when I tried using it with a different device, I tried switching which AirPod is set as a microphone and the problem is not fixed.
