OSX update

I am running a late 2012 Mac Mini 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 on 10.13.6 High Sierra. I somehow suspect some of the newer apps I am running would benefit from a more recent OS. I am wondering if I should upgrade incrementally of just go to the more recent OS of my choice?

I primarily use Presonus Studio One 5 Artist these days. I do run some older Adobe applications CC2017 and 2018. I suppose I should see if these are compatible with Big Sur?
