Try a different optical disk, and try that disk in a different optical drive, and try a different optical drive.
There were once optical drive cleaning kits (that sometimes helped), though those are probably less commonly available now.
Optical drives can and do fail, and the usual ‘fix” is a Superdrive or some other add-on drive; a replacement.
