AirPods standby/sleep mode?

I like to have an ambient rain and storm sound on when I lay down to sleep but I have noticed that the airpods stop working. When I wake up they aren't playing. If I take them out of my ear and put them back again they carry on playing. I'm assuming that when I'm not moving they go into some sort of standby mode. Can I stop this so they play continuously?

Hi xxxrep2xxx,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with music playing through your AirPods while you sleep. We'd like to help.

From what you've described, it sounds like the Automatic Ear Detection feature is pausing your music while you sleep. Check out how to Adjust the settings on your AirPods to see if that helps.

Let us know if that helps with your issue.
