Type USB - C lightning cable

I have a new iphone mini 12 and it has come with a new lightning cable which doesn't fit my lightning port on my Mac. The Mac I have is a 2014 model and so it seems the ports have changed. Is there a different cable I can get to use my lightning port or an adaptor to convert the cable that came with the iphone? I only got the new iphone because Apple have stopped supporting the iphone 5 I loved! You are helping an old fogie. I don't want to rely on using my USB port. Cheers.

A Mac doesn't have Lightning ports. New Macs have Thunderbolt 3 ports which accept USB-C plugs, such as the one on the cable that came with the new iPhone. Older Macs have Thunderbolt 2 ports, which can also be used with Mini DisplayPort, but cannot be used for the iPhone.
