Hi I have a Mac mini 2018 running MacOS 11.2.
I need an external WEBcam for meetings and I have purchased one that says it is MacOS compatible. Unfortunately it is not being detected, I have sent a message to the distributer but still awaiting a reply.
When I plug in the device (USB) the power light on the WEBcam flashes but it is not connected, any ideas or is this WEBcam just not compatible.
Webcam is XIAOCAI 1080P HD Webcam.
Just to keep everyone up todate.
The WEB Cam was faulty, the distributor sent out a new WEB cam and it worked out of the box.

I have tried all of the USB connections on the Mac mini and it is not recognised. I have even tried on my MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and now a Windows 10 machine.
I can only assume the device is faulty, still waiting for a response from the distributor.
Pretty much looks like it if nothing recognizes it. If I may suggest I used to have a Logitech C920 which never gave me a problem. When the Pandemic occurred I gave it to my grandson because webcams were at a premium. I have replaced it with a less expensive one.
To make sure try another USB connection. If it is not listed in System Report then the computer is not recognizing it.
Open Facetime or PhotoBooth and see if you get an image. Or go to About This Mac and hit System Report then Camera and see if it is listed.
That is the issue it is not listed in any application or in the system report.
