Touch ID stops working on my MacBook. I delete the fingerprints, and it works for a while, then it stops recognizing my fingerprint.

Touch ID no longer responding consistently I have a 2 year old MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020) running macOS Monterey 12.2.1. About 10 days ago, my touch ID became unreliable when using Safari. Safari is the only place I use it. I thought that perhaps the saved fingerprint file had become corrupted, so I deleted it and created a new one. Seemed to work okay for a couple of days, then the same behavior re-appeared. I've cleaned the Touch Pad, and my finger doesn't appear to be marred in any way: no scratches, grease, etc. Besides ... sometimes it works. I haven't been able to discern any patterns in when it works and when it doesn't. Any ideas?

Touch ID on MacBook Pro 2020 spontaneously stopped working Last Friday, the Touch ID pad on my MacBook Pro 2020 spontaneously stopped working consistently. The pad is clean and dry. My MacBook is in impeccable condition for one that is almost three years old, and all of the keys, including the touchpad, are intact. Here's what I've done so far to attempt to solve the problem: Rebooted twice. No help. Installed the latest MacOS (MacOS Ventura v13.2). No help. Deleted my old Touch ID fingerprint and added a new one. The touchpad was a bit finicky and it took a long time, but it did eventually allow me to add the new fingerprint. But if I open an application that uses Touch ID for login, my fingerprint is not recognized. Nothing happens. It's as if the touchpad has just died or is not communicating with the MacBook. I'm at a loss. Any other suggestions?

Touch id not responding on MacBook pro,How to fix it? The MacBook Pro 16 is 3 months old, two weeks ago the touch id stopped working. I tried to reset smc tried delete and re-add my Touch ID fingerprint, but I can't add because it doesn't recognize the fingerprint at all.

Try resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

if no resolve—

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
