I delete the folders in iDrive and they just come back

I delete the root folders in iDrive and they just come back. How do I permanently remove them from iDrive. I don't want to use iDrive at all.

I spoke with Apple support and discovered the problem. You cannot delete the Document or Desktop folders in the root of iCloud Drive. You have to open the Documents folder and delete all of the folders and files under the Documents folder.

I told him that the iCloud.com web site should either: 1) not enable the Trash can icon when I select it to delete the Documents folder, or 2) display a message telling me that I can not not delete the Documents folder but must open the Documents folder and delete the files inside the folder.

This behavior on the iCloud.com site is a very poor user interface. It gave the illusion that the Documents folder was deleted (no messages) then simply restored it on the next refresh.

Once I deleted the contents of the Documents folder, I truly was able to clear out all of the files and folders taking up space in the Drive on iCloud.
