Error message authentication AppleID login or FaceTime and iMessage

I was able to install latest OS Big Sur on my SSD m.2 drive. However, I can’t logon via Apple ID login and password for either iMessage or FaceTime. Even on a clean OS install without my personal appls. I tried all types of things to check and do i.e. chk date and time; WiFi working;updated latest updates; no firewall; clear cache;, etc. I can easily log into my AppleID upon new install and it shows fine in preference settings. So still get “Error occurred during authentication” each time I try to sign in on FaceTime and IMessage.

So here is the fix. I finally was able to setup a date to bring my iMac to an Apple Store for them to see if they can add the serial number via their serialize tool. They were able to add my serial number back onto the new logic board. Now both iMessage and Facetime can authenticate via Apple ID successfully. That was the trick. Apple iMessage and Facetime requires a serial number to have Apple ID log you in successfully. If not, you will get a similar error message like mine. I hope this helps others with similar issues. Take care and thanks everyone for assisting me during this period. I really appreciate it.

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Also try the Safe Mode.

Safe Mode - About.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin.
