keyboard problem

My iMac is now five years old and works like a charm. However, all of a sudden, the wired keyboard stopped making a connection to the computer. What's the best way to diagnose the problem? Could it be the keyboard aging out or something more sinister?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

Yes, it could be the keyboard. Do you have access to another computer, Mac or PC, on which you can test it? It might be time to get a new keyboard.
