Why doesn't the attachment icon show up in emails sent to me?

Since I installed Big Sur, emails sent to me that include attachments don't display that there is an attachment in the "view attachments" column of Mac Mail. I have reset Mail, changed the view and even tried to rearrange the columns. I can still see emails with attachments that arrived before the Sierra install, but not any of the emails that arrived after that install. How can I see the attachment icon in recent emails? Of course the attachment icon is visible on my iPhone email.

Hello Hawaii5950,

Being able to view attachments in emails is very important. To clarify, emails that contain attachments show correctly on the iPhone, but not in Mail on your Mac. In place of the attachments do you see a loading icon? Also, does this happen with multiple email accounts or one specific account? If the issue is with one account, does it happen if you sign in to a different user account on your Mac, and use the mail application? If you're unsure, or don't have another user account created on the Mac you can create a user account using the following article.

We appreciate the clarification Hawaii5950,

In Mail you should see a paperclip icon towards the right of the emails subject line. If you're not seeing a paperclip image are you able to see if the issue continues in an alternate user account on your Mac? If you don't have an alternate user account created you can follow the steps outlined in the article below to create a user account to see if the issue continues.
