Iphone 11 water damage

Hello,

I own an iPhone 11 Pro Max. I researched about the possibility to take underwater pictures.

I read that it was possible under time + water depth constraints.

I went ahead and took 4 pictures at less than 1 meter of depth a for only a few seconds, which seemed to be alright under the recommendations by Apple and on user forums.

A day after, my phone starts reinitiating itself every few seconds, so I took it to the authorized service center and the diagnostic is I HAVE TO REPLACE THE PHONE!

I'm very dissapointed and I'd like to have to some help on the matter.

My phone is intact, doesn't even have a scratch on it, and now they simply say I have to replace it!

I'd also add that if the phone is really not built to get wet, just don't make claims that you can.

Please help!

Apple's official recommendation is not to submerge you phone in any liquid.

About splash, water, and dust resistance of iPhone 7 and later - Apple Support

To prevent liquid damage, avoid these:

  • Swimming or bathing with your iPhone
  • Exposing your iPhone to pressurized water or high velocity water, such as when showering, water skiing, wake boarding, surfing, jet skiing, and so on
  • Using your iPhone in a sauna or steam room
  • Intentionally submerging your iPhone in water
  • Operating your iPhone outside the suggested temperature ranges or in extremely humid conditions
  • Dropping your iPhone or subjecting it to other impacts
  • Disassembling your iPhone, including removing screws
