Proof of purchase to do a hard iPhone reset

Ex Husband’s being difficult and “not able” to share iCloud password to reset my mother’s iPhone. I am not sure why he added his credentials on her iPhone in the first place since I bought the phone for her.

I am trying to brainstorm ways to retrieve the receipt for proof of purchase for Apple to do a hard reset on the phone. The iPhone was purchased in 2015 on Best Buy and the only thing I could find is a gift receipt but it has no IMEI info... just the iPhone model and color.

Do you have any insights how I can reset the iphone, enter my mother’s Apple ID and grant her full access to her own phone please?

Hello luciana11,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! We see you're having an issue with Activation Lock on your mom's iPhone, and we'll be happy to do what we can to help.

Activation Lock usually does require the original Apple ID and its password to be removed.

You mentioned getting it from Best Buy, have you contacted them to see if they can still provide a receipt copy?
