Apple watch series 2 battery lifetime

In general, what is the lifetime of Apple watch series 2 (38mm) battery? It's been 3 years got over since I purchased and battery charge was able to withstand for one full day with 100% charge. Nowadays I am seeing the battery is not withstanding not even for few hours. It comes down to 50% or less.

Is battery replacement possible and if so, whether it can be replaced in Apple authorized service centers? Or Apple watch itself has to be upgraded to Series 3 & later? Your feedback is very much appreciated.a
