Can’t see or open .ics from my Outlook account

Hi there,

I receive a lot of calendar invites in my Outlook (.ics files). However, they show as “unavailable” and I can’t open them or do anything with them (I can’t even see the details such as date and time of the meeting).


After reading some of the other community threads, I’ve tried changing my Safari settings so that it Downloads go “on my iPhone” rather than the cloud. Another thread said that you should go to passwords and settings, open the email account and toggle on calendar. However, there is no option for calendar in that account and I can’t work out how to add it.

Any ideas please? It’s really annoying that I have to ask the organiser to send me details every time they send a calendar invite...

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're not able to receive Outlook calendar events as they show as "unavailable". You mentioned not seeing the account with the Calendar setting. See if you can add it by following the steps under "Set up a calendar account" here: Set up mail, contacts, and calendar accounts


After adding the account see if you are then able to view and accept those invitations. Keep us posted.
