AirPods disconnect after Apple Watch timer ends

Hi,

My AirPods are disconnecting from my iPhone after my Apple Watch timer ends. This didn’t used to be an issue and perhaps caused by my most recent update (14.4).

How do I fix this? Any help/advice/workarounds greatly appreciated!
