Captions missing after importing photos from iPhone to Photos for Mac

Hi there,

thanks in advance for looking into this.

I am finally getting into the habit of adding captions to each photo that I take with my iPhone. I need this, as a substitute for keywords or description, as the Photos app in iOS (momentarily) only supports "captions" to be added to the pictures I take. (e.g. location details, 2nd floor - facing east)

Sadly, if I import those pictures traditionally from my iPhone, via lightning, into Photos for Mac, all those captions are gone.

Is there a workaround or setting that can be adjusted.

Also, here are the workaround that do not work for me:

  • adding the captions later (I need the captions to identify the pictures, without those details, I am not able to identify the pictures later again on my mac)
  • Using iCloud - There is simply no internet / nor the capacity to use iCloud in my case (Also, I already have the max. 2TB subscription - if anyone knows who to talk to to extend this, please let me know)

Thanks again for any input and wish a great day,

Michael

Hello Schimmel.Schumi,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

We understand from your post that when you import your photos to your Mac the captions do not transfer over with the photos. As this is not currently a feature, you may want to consider leaving feedback for Apple for this type of feature to be possibly implemented in a future update:
