Mac memory didn’t free after deleting 12GB Mac Big Sur installation package

Originally, I downloaded the Big Sur package and tried to update my Mac. However after downloading the package, the system showed there is no enough space for installing Big Sur. Then I delete that 12GB BIG SUR package in order to free the space. However after I delete it, my space is still 13GB, it remains no change! Why is that? Where is my 12GB ?

Hi juyin,

If we understand correctly, you downloaded the installer for macOS Big Sur, but didn't have enough space available to upgrade the macOS version. After removing the installer, the Mac still showed 13 GB of space available, is that correct? If so, did this happen after emptying the Trash as well? We have some more details about freeing up space on your Mac here:

Which macOS version are you upgrading from? These details will help us better determine the next steps in getting the problem resolved.
