Getting Italics in Comic Sans MS in Mac OS 11.2.1

While writing an email in the Mac OS 11.2.1 MAIL app on more than one occasion, I have looked up to notice the Comic Sans MS font I like to use has been italicized, somehow. Comic Sans MS does not offer that function normally. I must have hit some keys by mistake to italicize the font -- but which ones?

Does anyone know what I've done to activate the Italic function in my Comic Sans MS.

OMG... just answered my own question. Still getting used to this MBP M1 keyboard (smaller than 2013 model) which now includes an active strip where the F keys used to be. When the B I U are in the lighted strip they control the font style. BINGO. Italicized Comic Sans MS when there was none before. I must tell Apple, 'cause I asked them what I had done and they had no idea. Cheers.

Hi 'Toadie' -- great name BTW -- hopefully this is not my new 'mania'.

Command + i would normally do the trick in a font that allowed Italic script. If you open Comic Sans MS in MAIL, the Italic option is greyed out, so the key command does not work, for me. What does work is the B I U that appears on the touch bar when a new email opens for keyboarding. Does that make sense?

Many thanks,

GM
