Shutting down

When selecting the shut down button I get a popup box that says

I turn off all the iOS devices in the house and the iMac still won't shut down. Looking for alternatives to unplugging the thing. Thanks

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 10.15

Open sort on CPU%, see if anything using too much CPU%, force quit the Finder, it will restart.

Who is having problems shutting down their Mac when an iOS device connects over wifi? Can’t shut down my Mac. iOS device connected never finishes syncing. Unbelievable! Have to hold down the power key to shut down. This has been going on too long. Very disappointing…

Disconnect external peripherals prior to installing Monterey Has anyone tried disconnecting everything except the keyboard and mouse, installing Monterey, and then re-installing all the external devices one at a time?
