IPad Passcode Not Working

If you enter your passcode on a 3x3 telephone keyboard, and are asked to re-enter it on a typewriter keyboard, are you mixing up letters and numbers? If you normally enter the passcode as six letters on the telephone keyboard, Apple might be remembering it as the corresponding six NUMBERS. Re-enter it on the typewriter keyboard as those numbers.
