Sparks when plugging in charger in surge protector

I’ve had my MacBook Pro since 2018. I’ve replaced the battery and the keyboard in December and now when I plug in the charger into the surge protector I hear crackling sounds and sparks appear. I unplug the charger from the outlet after it’s charged.

Could the charger be faulty or could the surge protector be going? This doesn’t happen with anything else and just the MacBook.
