HEART RATE data. BPM not being recorded when using Nike Run Club app in the Nike Apple Watch 3

The issue still persists though I can now provide more information about the problem at hand.

The Apple Watch Nike Run Club app starts to record HR only seemingly randomly. It doesn't matter whether all metrics are on, whether background refresh is on for the apps both iPhone or Apple Watch and it doesn't matter whether I've opened up the AW app already for it to begin watching HR.

NRC doesn't really provide any good tutorial on how SHOULD one operate NRC with iPhone + Apple Watch.

Any tips on getting the Apple Watch NRC app to CONSISTENTLY open itself when a run is started in the iPhone NRC app?

Update for people with the same problem:

Apple Watch emits an audible bell sound after the iPhone NRC app has been open for a while. This could be indicating that the run is ready to be started from the iPhone so that the Apple Watch NRC app can respond by starting measuring the run too on the Watch.

So far my solution has been the routine of opening NRC a few minutes before actually starting the run to 'warm up' the connection between Apple Watch and iPhone. If you have a routine f.ex. starting your run 17:00 each day you could use Shortcuts to open up NRC from iPhone each day 16:55 for the Watch & iPhone connection warm up.

It's worth noting though that I did re-calibrate my Apple Watch according to Nicholas_B2's suggestions in this thread. One should also probably use f.ex. some warm gloves to cover the Watch if you're running in freezing temperatures like me. Also starting the NRC app on the Watch hasn't maybe yet any difference to starting the app beforehand.

Hey there http_teapot,

We'd like to help get your heart rate to be detected correctly, and not just some of the time.

You already tried some great steps, so we recommend trying the remaining ones here: Get the most accurate measurements using your Apple Watch

As you mentioned you're running with it, if you're running outside where it's cold, we suggest making sure to cover your Apple Watch while outside.

Take care!

Another update: None of these methods don't work consistently. It's almost as it doesn't matter whether I've kept either of the apps open for a while (or haven't). So there's now 4 possible scenarios tested out and none of them work consistently.

Does anyone have any official instructions on how to run with Apple Watch on Nike Run Club? It seems so harsh for this to break the Apple experience with little-to-no instructions at all on how to perform such a basic task.
