Itunes indicates it is Syncing "iPhone" backing up but when I check the Backups, under "Latest Backup" it says your iphone has never been backed up to this computer. I would like to manually back it up

Itunes indicates it is Syncing my iPhone (backing up) but when I check the Backups, under "Latest Backup" it says your iphone has never been backed up to this computer. I would like to manually back it up. "Back Up Now" is Greyed out always.

See If you can't back up your iOS or iPadOS device to a computer or restore it from a backup - Apple Support.

It had to complete the backup 3+ hours. I guess I was not letting it complete as it slows everything dramatically. The buttons are no longer greyed out. Thx

Should have noted - this is on a Windows 10 Laptop running the latest iTunes 12.11.0.26 with USB cable connection to iPhone7plus and iOS at 13.5.1. Don’t really want to upgrade the phone to the latest.
