If that doesn't help, try logging into your mail account using a web browser on a computer and look for one of the affected emails. Are you able to open it from your computer? Knowing this would help in further narrowing the issue down.

Thanks for replying. As a test, from a web browser on a computer, try sending an email and BCC yourself, and then try to open it on the iPad. Does it open then, or do you see the message about formatting? Knowing how it works from a web browser will be a good way to rule out a few causes on the iPad end.
