office 365 not showing header and footer in word docs on OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Hello Everyone,

I have an issue on my Mac.

Recently word for MAC stopped showing the headers and

footers for all of our word documents.

Is there an easy way to turn this feature back on?

We upgraded this MAC, so it is current and we have a current

subscription to Microsoft Office 365.

We can't seem to find a way to re-enable the header and

footer view.

A simple correct solution would be FANTASTIC.

There is no longer a supported version of Microsoft office that is capable of running on El Capitan.

You're not likely to have much luck with Microsoft support.

The oldest version of Office for the Mac that is supported is Office 2016 running on macOS Mojave. Anything older than that is unsupported by Microsoft.

Microsoft Office 365 (now just Microsoft 365) no longer offers a downloadable, installable version of Office that is compatible with El Capitan. Microsoft no longer supports the versions of office that ran on El Cap. The oldest version of macOS that Microsoft supports for Office Products is Mojave.

Microsoft 365 is not an Apple product, and you will have better luck responding to the Microsoft 365 Word for Mac answers community. You should also check your Word Preferences and menus for means to toggle the header/footers.
