Screen Mirroring w/ a Samsung Q90 series

I have had a hard time connecting my Samsung Q90 series to screen mirroring. I have gotten it to work once after restarting my iPhone X. The option to click on my TV is now coming up when I press screen mirroring but it won’t connect - the little circle just spins.

Also, I am trying to use Apple fitness via screen mirroring. The one time I’ve connected to my TV via screen mirroring as well as using an HDMI cord, I cannot get the work out videos to play. The sound works. The ‘preview’ videos work, but the actual work out video will no show up on the TV.

I have followed all the directions stated on the apple site.

Thanks for the help.

Hello Jayevs,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having some issues screen mirroring to your Samsung Smart TV.

Does this happen with all content that you try to mirror or only Fitness+? If only Fitness+, only Apple TV models mentioned in Devices you can use with Apple Fitness+ are compatible so you won't be able to screen mirror to your Samsung TV.

If this happens with other content, we noticed that you recently reviewed If AirPlay or screen mirroring isn’t working on your device. Were you able to complete the steps from that article or what happened?

Take care.

Yes, both the TV and our phones are connected to the same wifi network (our main home network). The option to click on the TV now comes up within the screen mirroring function but when I click on it I just get the little / spinning circle. After a few seconds I get a message w/ the heading AirPlay that states "Unable to connect to "Samsung Q90 Series".

The ONLY time I was able to get the screen mirroring to work was immediately after I had re-booted my iPhone. I tried again immediately after and got the same "Unable to connect" message described above.
