MAIL program issue

Hi there. I have a Mac OS catalina 10.15.7 - I changed my password on my xfinity email account. Mail (version 13.4) repeatedly refuses the new password and I get a message saying it cannot connect to the server. I tried deleting the Comcast account and re-adding it, and I'm told the account already exists. And yet it is not there in the program. My other email accounts are working and I had no problem changing the xfinity/comcast password on my I-phone. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello jrh444,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

We understand from your post that you reset your email account password and not you cannot set it up on your Mac because a message says the account already exists even though you previously deleted it. Check both Internet Accounts in System Preferences and Mail > Preferences > Accounts to see if the account is listed. If so, delete the account and try adding it again.
