Runaway process

my Imac has been running slow and i was told to use EtreCheck and on the report one of the major issues was that i had a runaway process and when i clicked on it, it didn't give me a location for it. The process uses 99.9% cpu and i wonder if that is causing my computer to run slow. How would i find where that process is and how do i stop it, its called "JUQjguvy" and is run by user "root". is that what is making my Imac run slow?

here is the report as well.

Thank you

Also download and run Etrecheck Pro from the developer's website as it's better able to remove the adware.

I missed the first time that you've installed what most of the experienced users here consider akin to malware: CleanMyMac and MacKeeper. Uninstall them according to the developer's instructions.

The same goes for the MegaBackup software. It's more a liability than an asset.

I'd also stop using Bittorrent as websites that use it to download apps are found to include adware all to frequently. Only download apps from the developer's legitimate site.

Lastly I forgot to add that you have a corrupt configuration file:

Configuration Files:

/etc/hosts - Count: 1 - Corrupt!

Read this link on how to fix it: Fixing a hacked /etc/hosts file

thank you for all the help and i apologize for so many questions but whenever i search the names with FAF and try and drag them to the trash bin, the just reappear in the FAF

Do you get any message when that happens?

You may have to boot into Safe Mode by booting with the Shift key held down and and do the deleting from there.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

You have the largest amount of adware installed I've ever seen, 50. Download and run the free version of Malwarebytes. It was developed by a long time contributor to these forums and a highly respected member of the computer security community. That should get rid of them and help considerable. If you continue to get adware you might thing of purchasing MalwareBytes so it can run in the background and protect you from adware.

Also go to the Clean Up section of the report in Etrecheck and remove the orphaned files listed there.

Then rerun Etrecheck with full disk access enabled and repost the report:

IMPORTANT:

Before running Etrecheck assign Full Disk Access to Etrecheck in the Etrecheck's Privacy preference pane so that it can get additional information from the Console and log files for the report:

Also click and read the About info to further permit full disk access.

For the others download and run Find Any File to search for any files with the application's name  and the developer's name in the file name.  For those two apps you'd do the following search(es):

1 - Name contains mackeeper

2 - Name contains cleanmymac

3 - Name contains macpaw

Any files that are found can be dragged from the search results window to the Desktop or Trash bin in the Dock for deletion.

FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.

I am not getting any message but i wonder if its showing up because its still in the trash bin, should i empty it and see if they files don,t appear again, and also the orphaned files i cannot find and etrecheck says "Executable not found" under the names of the orphaned files so i don,t know how to get rid of those.
