Can I add Bluetooth 4.0 to my 2010 Mac Pro?

I just bought a Korg NanoKontrol Studio for Logig Pro X. I thought I met all the requirements for it to work wirelessly.

I downloaded Bluetooth Midi Connect and found out I don't have Bluetooth 4.0.

Is there some kind of patch or even a dongle that would work?

Mac Pro Mid 2010 / 12 core / 64gbram / osx 10.13.6

Thanks!

  1. Yes- of course that’ll work just fine... or if you’d rather... you can get a pci-x card that has both bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11 ac built in... an supports mac os x. the only reason I mention such a thing is that swapping out the bluetooth and the wifi card is a royal pain in the tush, but it is do-able... again, i’m just a mac user and this is only 1 guy’s opinion + experience( installed/ swapped ‘em both out once... not inclined to do that again... ) ... both the os x wifi solutions and the other ones are fine, i’m sure ... however if all you want to do is upgrade the bluetooth, and that’s it... nothing more... then you can get a USB Bluetooth dongle.. plugs in at the back of your mac pro 2010, assuming you have a free USB 2.0 port.. you don’t have to open up your mac pro tower and swap out the card(s) that are in there for that.... and disconnect/ reconnect the antennas— unless you want to , of course... i went with iogear as i knew it supported Mac OS X no question/ no problem... and it did Bluetooth 4.0 , cost me all of... $30..
