Apple watch movement for crocheters and knitters

When I am knitting or crocheting, my watch thinks that I am walking, and it messes up all my daily goals and tracking... Is there a way to temporarily turn off activity tracking while I knit or crochet? I am taking my watch off if I remember it... but sometimes I do forget and it registers 1000 steps already by the time I catch on. Do you have any suggestions?

Take the watch off or turn off fitness tracking whilst you knit or crochet;

Watch app/privacy and turn off fitness tracking here.
