Select which sim to use before calls. It's a nightmare!

Dear All users,

I just moved from android to iOS, it's my first iPhone.

I'm pretty happy with it but there is one thing that is turning me mad almost every day.

I' using a dual Sim iPhone 12 (e-sim+nano); the first sim is my private number, the second is the business/company number.

I have many contacts (colleagues) with both lines as me: private and business.

If it's a busines related call I usually do business-to-business sim call.

If it's not a business related call I do private-to-private call.

The "preferred line" or the "last used" options on iOS are not helping, many times I unintentionally cross numbers and call business numbers with my private and vice versa; especially when using siri or while driving.

This is not helping if I'm abroad or they are abroad: I could see huge bills for international calls on my private number.

Is there any way to ask me what number to use before any call?

I only see one solution for now: make different Contacts for each line e.g Mike Private and Mike business.

But this solution makes me travel back in time to my first Siemens C25 in year 1999. And it won't work for contacts sync.

thank you in advance for your support

Frenz_ITA,

Thank you for clarifying the problem you're experiencing. This is not currently an available feature for your iPhone. You may want to consider setting up a contact for each personal and business number. For example, you can have 'Jim business' and 'Jim private.' (Of course, you can also incorporate the last name into the contact, so it is clear.)

Another option to consider would be to reach out to Apple's Product Feedback Website and request these suggestions.

Best regards!

Greetings, Frenz_ITA!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! Congratulations on your new iPhone! From your post, it sounds like you want to be prompted to select which number you want to use when making a call. We want to help get you pointed in the right direction. When you call one of your contacts, you don't need to choose which number to use every time. By default, your iPhone uses the same number that you used the last time you called that contact. To find out how to enable this setting, look here: Using Dual SIM with an eSIM.

Take care!

Hello Nicholas_B2 and thank you for your answer.

I might not explained my question clearly.

I already configured iPhone to call one contact using number used last time. This works great when my contact has only one phone number registered, but it does not work if the contact has two phone numbers (e.g. business and private).

I'd like to set-up iPhone to call Jim private number with my private number or Jim business number with my business number.

I wish I could say to siri :" Call Jim private with my private number".

thank you
