QR code not reading on iPhone

I have been having trouble getting my iPhone XR to read QR codes for months. I saw a question from 4544-738 of a couple years ago, "I'm trying to scan a QR CODE with my iPhone X camera app, but it never seems to recognize that is a code".

I tried all the moderator's suggestions to no avail. Then I turned "Live" off at the top right of the screen and it worked. I tested it back and forth a couple of times and it now works on live. Wierd. Hope this helps someone.
