Keyboard backlight not working

Hi,

I need help. :) I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch 2018. My keyboard backlight is not working. it only turns on when I turn on my MacBook and enter my password. after that, it turns off. I don't even have the option in my setting to turn it on. I've tried resetting the SMC and NVRAM but nothing works.

Hey there, kieldm.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. It’s understandable that you’d want to resolve the issue with your keyboard backlighting. Resetting your NVRAM and SMC were great steps.

You should also make sure that the backlighting is turned on: Turn your Mac keyboard’s backlighting on or off

Also, make sure to adjust your brightness: Adjust the brightness of your backlit keyboard

If the issue continues, isolate the issue to the whole system or your user, by creating a guest user: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

We hope this helps! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions.

All the best.

Hi kareng12,

Thank you for the above suggestions :) as per my screenshot from my previous post, my keyboard settings does not have any options for the backlight. I have tried using the keyboard light control on my Touch Bar and the keyboard backlights are still off.

Also, I tried creating a guest user and still the backlights still won't turn on and still don't have the options for the backlight in my keyboard setting.

If you have any other ideas, I would be happy to try them.

Thanks!
