How to get Airplay to work

So I'm watching a video on my iPhone 11Pro and want to share it with my wife via AppleTV 4K on a 65" Sharp Roku TV.

All three devices are connected to the same 330mbps wifi network.

I select the AppleTV from the Airplay menu and get this:

I'm unable to select anything at all. My AppleTV remote does nothing. The TV remote does nothing. The receiver remote does nothing. The iPhone gives me no options. It just sits here forever. In fact, the only way to get rid of the screen is to click the "home" button on the TV remote, as even leaving Airplay doesn't switch back on the TV. Clicking the menu button or other buttons on the AppleTV do what they normally do except that you can't see what they are doing because the AppleTV screen isn't showing.

So I next try to stream to the Roku TV. It streams instantly and beautifully but with no audio. No matter what audio setting is assigned on the iPhone or the television, there's no audio at all.

It's 2021. I thought technology should be getting easier to use, not harder. It used to be easier than this to stream from the iPhone to the TV. What's going on? Can someone shed light on why this isn't working?

It seems that your TV is capable of receiving AirPlay, even without the Apple TV box. To stream directly to your TV, select the Sharp from the list on your iPhone. You don’t have to select anything on the TV, once the AirPlay settings for the TV are correctly set. AirPlay will override anything that is playing. Be sure to add your TV to the Home app as a HomeKit accessory, and assign it a room. Be sure to allow AirPlay on that TV from devices on the same network.

Or AirPlay to the Apple TV box connected to that same TV, which should have the same result. Then select that Apple TV from the list on your iPhone. You don’t have to select anything on the Apple TV box, once the AirPlay settings for the Apple TV box are correctly set. AirPlay will override anything that is playing. Either way will work.

I have tried mirroring the screen. But that doesn't yield the result, because the TV shows the iPhone as a small image in the middle of the screen. If I make the video on my iPhone expand to fill the iPhone screen it shows up sideways on the TV in the same small window. Useless. I have checked out the recommendations in the Troubleshooting doc. Nothing helps.

Thanks for the reply. As I indicated, the TV does indeed display Airplay very beautifully, but there is no audio. No matter what I do, I can't get audio to come up.

I do have the AppleTV in my Home app assigned to a room, and it is set to allow Airplay. That's why it shows up on the screen as an option. The issue is that when I select it I get that weird screen that doesn't recognize any further actions.
