Is there any way to remove an old iPad as a home hub?

Is there any way to remove an old iPad as a home hub

I sold an old iPad that I had used as a home hub. Before selling it I did remove it from my Apple ID. The old iPad still shows as a home hub, but unreachable. There seems to be no way to remove it in either the home app or in settings on any of my other Apple devices. I found an old question on this support website from several years ago (!) with the same question that remained unanswered.

Michael,

Head to Settings > [your name] , then look for the device in the list of devices below. If you locate your previous iPad, select it and then select Remove from Account. Ensure the device is removed from any Apple ID it was used or associated with in your home. Once this is complete your previous iPad should no longer show within the Home app.

The old device does not appear in this list on my phone, iPad, or in the list of devices on appleid.apple.com. The old device still appears in Home as being unreachable.
