I can't access my iphone internal storage on windows 10

Hi all,

I used to easily import my photos from my iphone through windows 10 file explorer or via photos app.

Now, when I plug my phone, it's seen and backed up by iTunes, and I can see it as an icon on my windows " Apple Phone ", but when I click on it appears as empty folder.

I did the rest for location and privacy, updated the drivers, since I was using windows itunes app, removed it an installed itunes from apple directly ( latest version ) ...

followed all of those steps, yet still no change, I can only access my phone through itunes alone, can't access my DCIM folder to import the photos to my pc.

Can anyone help please ?

Try taking a new picture on the phone? The DCIM folder should show as long as the camera roll on the device isn't empty.

If you still cannot get in try a utility called iFunBox.

Camera roll and DCIM folder should be the same thing. IFunBox is free, so I'd be tempted to use it to copy off your photos ahead of a backup and restore cycle, just in case. I assume you haven't enabled iCloud Photos on the phone. That might possibly affect what is retained on the device.

Have you done a full tear down and reinstall of iTunes? With Windows 10 there are two versions of iTunes, one a direct download from apple.com, the other installed through the Microsoft Store. Switching from one to the other might help.

Did you try https://www.i-funbox.com/en/index.html to copy off your photos.

It may be that you need to backup, restore as a new device, and then restore your backup to regain normal function of the camera roll.

I didn't try any 3rd party app.

seems like it's my last choice!

you think I should try backing up and then restoring as a last trial?

Ps. I don't understand why you keep mentioning camera roll! It's not showing any errors. I can't even see the DCIM folder, nothing can be seen under the icon ( APPLE PHONE ) ...

am I missing something ?

as for iCloud photos, it's not enabled :D I prefer not to upload any of my stuff on any server, whether photos or any thing really, as long as I have enough space on my phone.

Should I enable it ?
