Earpods do not play alarm

I have an i-phone 11 pro and the second generation airpods (earbuds). For some reason, when I have an alarm set (as I do have several throughout my day to remind me of important things I need to do), it will sound off on my phone only, and never on my earbuds. How can I correct this? I have tried everything in settings.

I cannot imagine that this feature in no longer possible, as I have had various iphones (5,6, x, etc..) and they all worked fine and I was able to truly be hands free and be alerted on my earbuds of an alarm even if I wasn't near my phone (which happens a lot).

Please help!!

Thank you!

Hello Dana,

We are here to help with your concern. We totally understand wanting to make sure alarms go off the way you expect.

How to set and manage alarms on your iPhone will have information to help clarify.

You can learn more under "Get help with alarms" at the bottom. It specifies:

"If you have an alarm that doesn’t sound or is too quiet, or if your iPhone only vibrates, check the following:

  • Set the volume on your iPhone. If your alarm volume is too low or too loud, press the volume button up or down to adjust it. You can also go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and drag the slider under Ringers And Alerts.
  • If your alarm only vibrates, make sure that your alarm sound isn't set to None. Open the Clock app, tap the Alarm tab, then tap Edit. Tap the alarm, then tap Sound and choose a Sound.
  • If you connect headphones or speakers to your iPhone, the alarm plays at a set volume through the built-in speakers on your iPhone as well as wired and wireless headphones and speakers."

Let us know if this helps.

Cheers.

I’m also experiencing this issue, both via bluetooth and wired earbuds. There doesn’t appear to be an option in Sounds & Haptics to force the alarm clock’s audio output via anything other than the phone’s external speakers. I’d like to wake up to music from the Music app via my earbuds so I don’t disturb my partner, but at the moment it looks like I can only do this via a 3rd party app.
