Keyboard Connection Lost/Connected, with the built-in macbook keyboard

I keep getting an-screen message, a gray box with a keyboard graphic, that says "Connection Lost", and "Connected" with very high frequency, like every 5-10 seconds. I appears right in the middle of the screen. But the kicker: there is no connected keyboard. I'm on the Macbook, using the standard keyboard. Does anyone have any idea what this is, and how to troubleshoot it?

Top Row of Keys no longer function On my mac wireless keyboard, the top row of keys (F keys) stopped performing their normal functions. Some open a code screen in my browser, other just give the system error beep. I've poured over the Keyboard settings and nothing seems to matter.
