Let's settle this once and for all: Should I leave my Macbook Pro (or any Macbook, really) plugged in?
My MacBook Pro is my daily driver. I used to bring it everywhere with me to work, uni, etc., so the battery would get drained and recharged throughout the day (but I never let it drain to less than 20%). Come the pandemic, I've switched to a monitor so my MacBook Pro is just docked and plugged in most of the time. I just let it drain down to around 20% every two weeks or so. I also don't leave it charging overnight. I just let it sleep while unplugged, but with all peripherals also unplugged and the WiFi/BT/Power Nap switched off.
Is this healthy for the battery and will continued practice help extend its lifespan? I've seen some of answers saying that you should let the battery drain on a daily basis, but wouldn't this just drive up the cycle count and promote battery decay? I'd rather hear an asnwer from an Apple tech and not some 3rd party.
