My friend can’t connect to my Home. My 2nd friend can just fine. Both are in other states. Done everything possible to try to fix it to my knowledge. I’ve ensured remote access is on, too.
Used to work for Apple. So when I say I’ve tried everything I know, it’s legit everything they taught. My Home Hub is ATV 4, updated to the latest software. The device having issues with connecting to Home and controlling accessories is an iPhone SE 2020.
- Restarted friend A phone
- Removed A from Home, re-added
- Made sure iCloud Keychain was on
- Disconnected / re-connected to wifi
- Uninstalled Home on A’s phone, re-installed
- Turned Home off and on again in A’s iCloud
- Reset iPhone
- Changed their Apple ID from an iCloud address to a Gmail one, then back again (as the other two friends I have, use Gmail Apple IDs, didn't think it would make a difference but tried anyway)
- I signed out of my ATV, then signed back in and restarted it
- Checked Settings > Messages > Blocked to ensure emails were not blocked
- Checked Settings > Cellular > Data and ensured Home had data access
- Checked to ensure their Home status showed Remote Access is ON
Their phone (iPhone SE 2020, updated to the latest software) says accessories unavailable and that Home Hub is disconnected, but it's not. And it keeps switching between Homehub responding/not.
They're in CA, I'm in TX. But it works just fine for my other friends in AZ and GA when testing it, just not my CA friend. Have no idea what the problem is.
Please help. This is irritating, to say the least, Apple really needs to invest more in Home and making it simpler and less buggy by now. It's 2021.
