Yesterday, I decided to upgrade my MacOS from Mojave to Big Sur. My question is where did things go wrong? Mac is stuck in Reboot loop. Used Cmd + R to get me to the macOS recovery/ "examining Volumes and the password (Ive used for 4yrs) to login isnt working. I decided to go the Apple icloud route to recovery, Getting the error message of "Icloud account was unable to unlock this volume."

Try Force shutdown via Power Button and disconnect all external drives. Connect to charger and restart and hold - Shift - key immediately at startup. It will perform a repair Disk, clear cache files and only load Apple Software and Fonts . . so loads slowly - Normal. Hopefully this will allow the installer to finish and boot to Setup Assist.

Must ask - are there Anti Virus, VPN, Disk Cleaner, Optimizers installed. They will cause havoc, interfere with the normal opertaion of the OS and can even corrupt the OS - Remove as per Developers Instructions - if does not apply - disregard

Yes... Anti Virus. The most difficult part is the startup. When I hold -Shift- Im taken to the Lock Screen with 2 user accounts. My user account and Guest account. If I select my account, I put the password and it loads 75% and shuts off. I log into the guest and I can only use Safari. Is there a way to remove the Anti-virus outside of these 2 accounts?

Thank you. I believe the issue is the Anti-virus because this isn't working. The recovery disk is encrypted, I attempt to login using my Apple ID and I'm getting the error code that the disk cant be recovered. I find it strange that my actual password to log in isnt accepted in the start up disk, but is accepted at the Home log in. At the home log in, it loads 75% and then turns of. Then the Lightening logo appears and bounce across the screen.
