I started getting this message about 3 days ago each time I've started up my computer, which seems to load everything from what I can tell: Expecting value: line 1 column 1 (char 0). What does it mean, and how can this be fixed if there is a problem?

That's exactly what I learned. I had a chat session with Apple, and they gave me a link for Malwarebytes for Mac, however, since I, too, am on El Capitan, the link didn't work. However, I did a search for this system from Malware and found the free download. Ran the program, and it took care of the problem. I will eventually upgrade to the paid version, but for now, the problem is solved. Hope this helps you, too.

SOLVED: For myself there may have been a couple sources of the problem. It has been a week now since I have had no error message displayed. One of the two possible causes was a file in "Library > LaunchAgents" called com.FHilEnLirpnWkxhyqvwjyFrmBeYMAgent.plist. I deleted this file and restarted the MacBook Pro. Unfortunately the error message still kept appearing. The next possible cause was in "Library > Preferences" called com.behenic.peglet.plist. I deleted this file and restarted my MacBook Pro again. It has been one week since then and I have not seen the error message display again.

Hello Everyone. I am experiencing the same popup issue. I think I have at least found the process name which is linked with it. Step by step I have forced quitting processes from the « Activity Monitor » tool that could try launching installation. It turns out that « Systemevent » process has a link with this popup. Immediately after forcing quitting it, the popup disappeared and did not reappear. From that point on and since I’m not a professional debugger, I don’t know which software is starting this process. If you have any idea, please let us now. I have also deleted all files in Library > LaunchAgents to remove all possibilities that this popup comes back. Thank you. Stay safe

There is a download link to get free trial of 'MalwareBytes for Mac' from maker's site

site ~ seems to still work in my Late 2012 Mac mini, with macOS El Capitan 10.11.6.

After 14-days, free 'trial version' reverts to basic version; still removes malware, etc.

• Malwarebytes for Mac | malwarebytes (download)

https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac-download/

Between this ^ and EtreCheck, both from maker's sites, these do well for free versions.

{..And both these products were developed by contributing Mac users here in ASC..}

Me too. Obviously from an install of some sort. The last update applied to mine, which wasn't applicable to my OS was an update to Backup Scheduler for the Big Sir release. I'm on old El Capitan but the system thinks it is applicable. I think the error is with the update trying to install something to the an out-dated OS X.

HEY OS SUPPORT, get onto this will you! One of your recent patches isn't installing on some or all devices.
