Cannot save new contact from WhatsApp

WhatsApp has access to my contacts. When a new person (or someone new from within a group) messages me and I click on their number and select “create new contact”, it allows me to fill in their information, but when I touch “save”, nothing happens. It refuses to save. I don’t mean that the person doesn’t show up in my contacts. I mean the screen does not respond. I can touch “save” as much as I like, but in the end I have to touch “cancel” and go create a new contact the normal way and copy paste everything over. I’ve reinstalled the app, I’ve allowed contact access. Nothing seems to work. Thanks for any help.
