Shut down short cut for MacBook Air with M1 processor

Various things happen when I press the power ID button.

A short press puts the laptop to sleep. I need to press the ID button or sign in, but there is no start progress bar.

A long press turns it off. I can tell because afterwards, on restarting, I see the start progress bar.

Sometimes, though, I see a pane with three options: sleep, turn off, or restart. How exactly is that done? I have not worked it out.

NVRAM Not Resetting? Hey there. I've got an M1 14" MacBook Pro on 13.2.1 When I shutdown, turn back on, and hit command+option+p+r it goes through the rest of the startup sequence but doesn't do the NVRAM reset. If I press the key combination before startup, it doesn't work. If I press the key combination immediately after hitting the power button, it doesn't work. I don't have any other computer issues - just trying to reset their NVRAM to get an external device to work. Any ideas?

MBP 2020 M1- Its fully shutdown, but touching the trackpad caused my Mac to power up - how to stop this? Hello everyone, Ok this post will only affect people with MBP M1 2020, it seems a few new features have been added to the 2020 M1 Macs. I can 'fully shutdown' my MBP so t is off, now if I touched the trackpad or pressed ANY keyboard key this would cause my MBP to power on. Now lets be clear here I have not put my Mac to sleep or standby! I select "shutdown" and wait the 59 seconds for it to shut down. with all my other Macs I could touch the trackpad or press nay keyboard button and my Mac would not turn on until I pressed the power button, but this is not the vase with my 2020 M1 Mac. PLEASE does anyone know how I can turn off this feature?? From shutdown my Mac powers up when I touch the trackpad or pressing any keyboard key. Thank you all so much!!

MacBook Air M2 2023 startup and shutdown If we are unable to STOP a MacBook Air 2023, my laptop, from starting up when I open the lid. Does it go into hibernation mode when I close the lid? AND if I shutdown does it actually power-off ???
