Kernel Panic: Spotify?

Hi guys - please could someone give me a hand in helping me understand what may be/may of been the issue here...


My new iMac has had 2 kernel panics recently and restarted itself. Once with a generic error code with no reason given the other day, and then this one today below.


Is it something I need to be concerned about i.e. related to hardware or is there something obvious, amidst the error report (additional text), that someone could outline for me as being the problem and what I need to do?

The best antivirus, cleaning app, and overall maintenance app for Mac OS is Mac OS itself. All you need to do with Mac OS to keep it secure and running well is to keep it up-to-date and do periodic (about 1x per week) restarts. Other than that, leave it alone. Adding third party antivirus, cleaning, security and other types of maintenance apps to Mac OS adds no additional level of security. The only thing these apps do is have the opposite affect users want. They make Mac OS slow, unstable, generate odd behavior (much like you are experiencing) and make Mac OS appear buggy. 

 

Please locate the developers uninstall instructions for Sophos and follow to the letter. Then restart in Safe Mode per the directions in Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac and then restart normally.

Thank you for the reply.


Aside from addressing the use of Sophos (anti-virus reference), is it possible to ascertain what actually caused the panic specifically? It's difficult when I as a user cannot 'technically' translate what I am reading tangibly. I notice in the report there that there is a direct use of the word "Spotify" - is this reffing that being the cause, or if not, what's it's relevance in the context of the kernel panic report? Any ideas at all? I'm just trying my best to understand whether this is hardware or software, as it is only 2 weeks old so need to be returning the computer if it's defective hardware.
